Professor Tu Tao from Fudan University has developed three novel nitrogen heterocyclic carbene (NHC) metal catalysts based on acenaphthyl, di- and triazacarbene ligands. These Ir, Pd, and Au-based catalysts exhibit excellent catalytic activity and selectivity in key organic transformations, including:

  • Oxidative dehydrogenation of alcohols
  • Sulfonylation reactions
  • Reductive amination with sulfur dioxide insertion

These breakthroughs offer new possibilities for efficient and selective catalysis in synthetic chemistry.
