A Breakthrough in Peroxynitrite Detection
Peroxynitrite (ONOO⁻) is one of the most oxidizing and cytotoxic reactive nitrogen species, playing a critical role in numerous pathological processes including inflammation, neurodegenerative diseases, and ischemia-reperfusion injury. However, due to its extremely short half-life, site-specific generation (particularly enriched in mitochondria), and coexistence with other reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (ROS/RNS), achieving highly selective, sensitive, and spatially localized detection of ONOO⁻ in complex biological systems has long been a major technical challenge.
Traditional ONOO⁻ probes suffer from poor targeting (unable to focus on mitochondria), shallow penetration (visible light range), and susceptibility to signal interference.
Now, J&K Scientific introduces MITO-CC – a high-fidelity ratiometric fluorescent probe for ONOO⁻, combining mitochondrial targeting with two-photon imaging to deliver high selectivity and high sensitivity. It precisely captures intracellular ONOO⁻, eliminating signal interference and maximizing signal fidelity.
Key Features – Why MITO-CC Is an Excellent Research Tool
High Selectivity – No Signal Interference
MITO-CC exhibits exceptional specificity for ONOO⁻, with no significant cross-reactivity toward various reactive species including H₂O₂, H₂S₂, HOCl, O₂⁻, SO₃²⁻, and others. This resolves the signal interference issues commonly seen with traditional probes.
High Sensitivity – Rapid Capture of Dynamic Changes
MITO-CC reliably responds to low concentrations of ONOO⁻ (stable detection in the 0–25 µM range). The signal response is fast and stable, enabling easy capture of dynamic fluctuations of intracellular ONOO⁻.
Precise Mitochondrial Targeting
MITO-CC precisely targets cellular mitochondria, providing an accurate tool for studying mitochondrial-related oxidative stress and inflammatory mechanisms.
