In In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) systems, Enzyme Substrates are indispensable core components. They act as specialized “signal switches” that convert invisible biochemical reactions into measurable signals.
In enzymatic assays (e.g., ELISA, clinical chemistry reagents), a specific enzyme (such as HRP or ALP) is linked to the detection antibody or analyte. When the colorless substrate (e.g., TMB for HRP, pNPP for ALP) is added, the enzyme catalyzes its conversion into a colored, fluorescent, or luminescent product. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of the target analyte, enabling precise qualitative and quantitative detection.
