Superfan compounds are a novel class of molecular cages with unique structural features. Composed of two parallel benzene rings connected by six side chains, these compounds form a lantern-like structure with a (quasi-) closed internal cavity and numerous recognition sites distributed around the cavity.

Compared to traditional supramolecular host compounds, superfans exhibit remarkable versatility:
