Background

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a pathological process in which drugs cause liver dysfunction or damage. Carboxylesterase (CE) is an important enzyme primarily found in the human liver, and its reduced activity or deficiency is associated with the occurrence and severity of DILI. Therefore, detecting changes in CE levels during DILI can help elucidate the pathological and physiological effects of DILI.

Development of MB-CE Probe

Professor Tang Zhixin from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed a novel near-infrared fluorescent probe, MB-CE. This probe is designed based on Methylene Blue (MB) and releases fluorescence through a carboxylesterase-mediated hydrolysis reaction. Utilizing its unique carboxylesterase recognition group and cleavable linker, the probe specifically detects carboxylesterase activity and enables imaging in biological systems.

Product Advantages

    • High Selectivity: Selectivity of MB-CE for CE (Figure 1);
    • High Sensitivity: High-sensitivity detection of changes in CE activity (Figure 2);
    • Biocompatibility: Fluorescence imaging of MB-CE in mice (Figure 3);
    • Rapid Response and High Signal-to-Noise Ratio: Assessment of the effects on CE in cells with acute liver injury induced by APAP and repaired by GSH (Figure 4);
    • High Purity: ≥90%;
